Steam, the popular video game distribution platform from Valve Corporation, went live on the Mac last Wednesday with over 60 titles. Previously, the service has been exclusive to the PC since it first hit the scene in 2004. As part of the Mac release hoopla, Valve announced that the videogame Portal will be available as a free download until May 24.

And so far, things seem to have gotten off to an undeniably impressive start, with Valve announcing that the game has already been downloaded over 1 million times.
