Instagram on Tuesday introduced version 2.0 of their immensely popular photo sharing app for the iPhone and iPad. Billed as the largest update the company has introduced since first releasing the app about a year ago, Instagram 2.0 brings with it a ton of new and intriguing features.

First and foremost, the upgraded app includes a completely revamped user interface featuring live filters that purport to be 200x faster for quicker switching while enabling users to preview effects instantly and take said photos in real time.

The update also includes optional borders, one-click photo rotation and four new filters: Amaro, Rise, Hudson, and Valencia.

By far, the most requested feature from both pros and amateurs alike, we’ve increased our photo size from 612×612 to 1936×1936 on the iPhone 4 (1536×1536 on the iPhone3GS). You’ll capture beautiful moments in all their detailed glory.

Instagram 2.0 is supported on the iPhone 4, 3GS, both iPad models, and the 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch.

You can check out the app on iTunes here.
