Update: Apple acted fast and removed the application earlier today.

Is anyone at Apple actually paying attention to what goes into the iTunes App Store these days?

Babyshaker is an app that displays drawings of babies, accompanied by “annoying” sounds such as crying and screaming. The stated purpose of the app is to see how long you can endure the “annoying” sounds before you’re forced to quiet the baby down any way that you can (i.e shaking it).

How this app ever slipped into the app store is beyond me. It’s funny how an app like Tweetie can run into trouble over a temporary swear word, but Babyshaker waltzes into the app store with no problem.
