Apple has started offering HD movies in 720p for purchase on the iTunes Store. Previously, HD movies were only available as rentals. HD movies will cost $19.99 while standard definition movies will stay at $14.99.

Purchases will come with both an HD file and an iPod / iPhone-ready SD file, which is a nice touch, and Apple’s also promising that HD rentals will now be on the store within 30 days of retail release.
