Canon on Tuesday announced that it’s PIXMA line of printers, which include the MG8220, MG6220, and the MG5320 will now come with support for Apple’s AirPrint feature which enables wireless printing from the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Cannon’s press release reads, “AirPrint allows users to wirelessly print photos, emails, web pages and other documents without the need to install device drivers, saving time and making for a seamless user experience.”

Notably, Cannon also mentions that most PIXMA inkjet printers they release from this point forward will include AirPrint support.

If you want to get in on the action, the cheapest AirPrint supported PIXMA printer is the MG5320 model which you can pick up for $149 on Amazon.

Slowly but surely, support for AirPrint has started to take shape amongst the most popular printer companies. In December HP released a firmware update which brought AirPrint support to six OfficeJet and six PhotoSmart printers. And just a few weeks ago, they issued yet another firmware update which added AirPrint support to 8 of its LaserJet printers.

Lastly, Epson this past August announced that all new major Epson inkjet printers released beginning in September 2011 will come with AirPrint support.

Sidenote – you might remember that Steve Jobs this past November responded to a customer email regarding the scant selection of AirPrint printers stating, “Lots more coming soon. It’s what it takes to make a giant leap to driverless printing, which is huge.”
