The market research firm iSuppli tore apart an iPad, added up all of its component parts, and deduced the total cost of materials for each 16GB Wi-Fi iPad is $259.65. Bear in mind, though, that this cost doesn’t take into account advertising costs, licensing deals, and more importantly, research and development costs which can run up into the billions over a period of years. The 64GB 3G iPad components come in at $348.10.
