News, Rumors

With the iPhone 5 now largely expected to debut in early October, battery photos purporting to be from Apple’s next-gen iPhone are starting to emerge.

In the photo below acquired by MacRumors, we see an iPhone 5 battery prototype with the markings DVT_B3. As we learned during the aftermath of the Gizmodo/iPhone 4 debacle, DVT stands for Device Verification Test and is an important milestone on the path towards production as it and marks one step before actual production. Before reaching DVT status, a device must first pass EVT (engineering verification test).

As you can tell, the alleged iPhone 5 battery is more or less the same size as the iPhone 4 battery and the specifications are nearly identical as well. The iPhone 5 battery shows 3.7V and 5.3Whr while the iPhone 4 battery shows 3.7V and 5.25Whr.
