Microsoft announces October launch for Microsoft Office for Mac 2011

Microsoft announced today that Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 will be available for purchase in 100 countries by the end of October.

There will be two main versions of the software at launch — Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 and Office for Mac Home and Business 2011. The former will cost $119 for a single license and $149 for a family pack. The latter will cost $199 for a single license and $279 for a multi-pack. And starting today, users who purchase Office 2008 for the Mac will be allowed to upgrade to Office for Mac 2011 for free when it eventually comes out.

There will also be a Microsoft Office for Mac Academic version which will retail for $99 and will be available at authorized academic stores for students and educators.
