Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs recently toldBloomberg TV that his company was in talks with Apple to supply the California based iPhone maker with chips for its next-gen iPhones.  “We continue to discuss it, but haven’t made it yet,” Jacobs was quoted as as saying.  “Hopefully, in the future, we will have the opportunity.”

In mid-October, rumors started to spread that Apple was working on a “worldmode phone” that would work on both GSM and CDMA networks, and would serve to finally get the iPhone up and running on Verizon’s network.  These rumors were of course prompted by news that Qualcomm was officially planing to release hybrid CDMA/UMTS chips for use in upcoming smartphones.
