News, Rumors

Fresh off of Apple’s most profitable quarter in its 32 year history comes a rumor from fireball throwing Apple blogger John Gruber stating that Apple is poised to unleash a slew of new hardware sometime tomorrow.  Gruber’s retort came in response to a cryptic blogpost from Dan Lyons, a.k.a. Fake Steve Jobs, where he called out Gruber for allegedly not being aware of Apple’s planned product releases.

Can’t tell you what, obviously. But there’s something brewing. Gruber doesn’t know about it, but the people we care about are being briefed in advance. Stay close to your Mac or iPhone, and have your credit card ready.

Wishing to protect his honor, Gruber promptly responded with a gamut of knowledge about upcoming Apple products, lest anyone doubt that boy is connected!

Dan Lyons Apparently Thinks Yours Truly Hasn’t Heard About the Redesigned Plastic MacBooks, Redesigned (‘Impressive’) iMacs, Updated Minis (Including One That Ships With Mac OS X Server), the Multi-Touch Magic Mouse, and, as the Wildcard I’m-Not-Sure-I-Really-Believe-It-Myself Out-There Rumor, Maybe Even Some Sort of Mentioned-Nowhere-Else-But-in-This-Very-Headline Multi-Touch Trackpad Gadget for Desktop Macs That Apple Is Set to Release Tomorrow Morning.

Now try digesting all of that info in one gulp. Boy oh boy, where to begin.

Well first of all, rumors about upgraded iMacs and a new multitouch mouse have been floating around the rumor mills for a few weeks now, and truth be told, both products were initially expected to hit store shelves about two weeks ago.  But since Steve Jobs returned to the helm at Apple, accurate product leaks and ship dates have been harder to come by, so a few week give and take is to be expected.  So yeah, Gruber gives us a heads up, letting us know that the new iMacs and the new mouse, apparently named the “Magic Mouse” is setting up shop in the online Apple Store tomorrow morning.

Gruber also writes that we can expect to see redesigned plastic MacBooks along with updated Mac Mini’s.  But above all, what’s eye catching about Gruber’s post is this heretofore never before been discussed “multi-touch trackpad gadget for desktop Macs.”

Hmm, color us intrigued, yet confused.

Looks like tomorrow morning is shaping up to be an interesting day.
