Mark Papermaster (again, how cool is that name?) was embroiled in a much-publicized controversy a few months ago when he left IBM to take up a position at Apple and oversee their iPod and iPhone engineering teams.

IBM took exception to MP leaving to work for what it deemed a “competitor” and sued Papermaster shortly thereafter.  Papermaster soon counter-sued.  After a series of legal back and forths, all suits were dropped, and Papermaster eventually began working at Apple this past April.

But throughout the whole ordeal, Apple fans had no idea what this Papermaster fellow even looked like.  Until now.  Though we’re admittedly a few weeks late on this, Apple put a bio and photo of Mark Papermaster up on their website a few weeks ago.  So without further adieu, we present to you, dear readers, the one, the only.. Mark Papermaster.

Wow, are we crazy, or could MP totally pass as Tim Cook’s younger brother?

And in case you’re interested his bio reads as follows:

Mark Papermaster is Apple’s senior vice president of Devices Hardware Engineering. He leads the iPod and iPhone engineering teams, and reports directly to Apple’s CEO.

Papermaster has 25 years of product and technology experience, and was previously a vice president at IBM responsible for blade development including x86, POWER, storage blades, chassis, network electronics and associated ecosystem. He started his career in application-specific IC development circuit design at IBM’s Microelectronics Division, and had technical and management assignments in quality, CAD tool applications, and microprocessors.

Papermaster has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1988. He is active with the University of Texas where he is a member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Council.
