In an extremely odd headline that DF’s John Gruber aptly described as Onion-esque, Reuters reported earlier last week that wounded US Representative Gabrielle Gifford was doing better after having been shot in the head by a 22 year old deranged lunatic named Jared Lee Loughner.
Just 12 days after she was shot in the head, U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords can stand with assistance, has tried to speak and is using an iPad, doctors and her husband said on Thursday…
“She is beginning to stand with assistance, she is scrolling through an iPad — these are all fantastic advances for her. They do show higher cognitive function,” Dr. Michael Lemole, chief of neurology at UMC told reporters.
Well that’s great news, for sure, but just interesting that the iPad here is being used as a yardstick to measure recovery. Either way, the larger point here is that Gifford has somehow and quite miraculously survived a bullet literally shot right through her brain.
