Believe it or not, but there’s more to the iPhone than just games.  Yes, it’s true!  There’s a new application on the iPhone exemplifying the increasingly practical nature of iPhone applications, and it’s called Surf Report.

Surf Report is the result of a joint venture between Oakley and Surfline.com that gives users up to date information about swell sizes and directions, water temperature, wind speed and tide levels.  The surfability of waves can change quickly, so having up to date information about surf spots as those changes happen is a godsend for surfing junkies.  And if you’re looking to check out new surf sports, Surf Report uses the iPhone’s built in GPS to direct you to other surfing locations that might fit your bill.  Imagine waking up in the morning, checking your iPhone for the spot with the best surfing conditions that morning, and then using your GPS to get there.  Very cool.

In addition, the application provides users with surfing videos, surfing news and surfing photos from the latest surfing events.

Surf Report is currently a free download from the iPhone app store.
