In with the new and out with the old. With Apple’s next-gen iPhone right around the corner, the 2 year old iPhone 3G is about to visit the grim reaper. BGR obtained an internal memo from AT&T informing retail stores that they are officially out of stock of the iPhone 3G 8GB model.

Effective immediately, iPhone 3G 8GB is Out of Stock. Please refer all customers to iPhone 3GS 16 GB and 32 GB models.

Apple first lowered the price of the iPhone 3G to $99 in June 2009 ahead of the iPhone 3GS launch. With the 4G announcement just days away, the 3GS will likely move down in price to $99 to make room for Apple’s new offering.
