Substantiating earlier reports about the screen resolution of the upcoming iPhone, folks at a Czech Republic website recently got their hands on an iPhone 4G display, put that puppy under a microscope, and found that screen does, in fact, sport a 960 x 640 resolution.

This effectively quadruples the total number of pixels of the current iPhone which comes with a 480×320 resolution. In other words, the upcoming iPhone will showcase a pixel density of 320 ppi (pixels per inch), higher than any other smartphone currently on the market. By way of comparison, the much ballyhooed Nexus One’s screen is 252 dpi while the Motorola Droid’s screen is 265 dpi.

Also of interest is that the screen on the iPhone 4G is incredibly thin and uses the same IPS technology found in the iPad.
