Digg founder and all around Web 2.0 icon Kevin Rose is saying goodbye to the popular social media site he founded back in December 2004 and will now divert his efforts to a new startup he’s working on. Word has it that this new company is already closing on a $1 million financing round and apparently Rose thinks its time to move on from Digg.

In the meantime, Rose has tweeted that he will remain on the Digg board of directors and will continue advising the company and taping Diggnation.
