Over the past 2 weeks, word has been spreading across the web that pre-orders of the new Android based G1 phone were reaching 1.5 million units. This number seemed almost too good to be true. InformationWeek got suspicious, did a little bit of investigating, and found out that the 1.5 million pre-order number was based on extremely faulty math, or was simply a made up figure. InformationWeek has the full scoop over here.
