News, Rumors

Over the past 2 weeks, word has been spreading across the web that pre-orders of the new Android based G1 phone were reaching 1.5 million units.  This number seemed almost too good to be true.  The iPhone 3G, by way of comparison, sold only 1 million units in its first weekend, and it was subject to a non-stop assault of media attention and hype.  InformationWeek got suspicious, did a little bit of investigating, and found out that the 1.5 million pre-order number was based on extremely faulty math, or was simply a made up figure.  InformationWeek has the full scoop over here.
