HP’s TouchScreen Laptop doesn’t seem all that great

Check out this video of HP’s new TouchSmart Laptop that allows the user to interact with the screen via touch gestures. While some have argued that HP has beaten Apple to the market with a touchscreen laptop, the video below clearly shows that the concept needs a lot more work.  I can’t help but think of the old adage: Just because something can be done, doesn’t mean it should be done.

CultofMac had this to say:

Watch how taking advantage of the touch screen’s functionality requires two hands – one to hold the open screen steady at the side or the base, and another to actually perform the touch gestures on the screen. It also seems from this demo (which is apparently not a final release version of the product) the screen is not especially sensitive to touch gestures, that many “commands” have to be “repeated” twice and three times before the screen registers them.

Amen.
