Check out this interesting interview with Roger McNamee, one of the co-founders of Elevation Partners, the company that invested a ton of money into Palm to help it create the Palm Pre.  The other co-founder is, of course, former Apple CFO Fred Anderson.  McNamee has some interesting points to make and is clearly genuinely excited and enthusiastic when talking about the Palm Pre.  One interesting point he makes is how he wasn’t going to get involved with the Palm Pre if its success was predicated on the failure of the iPhone or the Blackberry – and in today’s world of iPod and iPhone killers that are more bark than bite, the Palm Pre seems to on the right track, or at least have the right “mindset”.  Of course, the product has yet to even launch, so we’ll have to wait and see if it can legitimately challenge some of the already established smartphone heavyweights.
