iLife ’09 begins trend towards Intel only Macs

If you check out the fine print in iLife ’09, you’ll notice that ‘artist lessons’ in GarageBand will only work on Intel-based Macs.  While some critics might cry foul, and argue that Apple is trying to force customers to upgrade so that they can get more money, the reality is probably closer to the fact that Apple keeps on pushing the boundaries with its software, and in order for that software to really shine, and perhaps even function, the latest iteration of hardware is often needed.  ‘Artist lessons’ aside, the rest of iLife ’09 doesn’t require an Intel based machine, and though our copy of iLife is still in transit, early reviews suggest that the new features in iPhoto and iMovie alone make upgrading well worth the $79.
