After initially appearing, and then disappearing, iTunes 8.1 has once again activated the genius feature for Movies and TV Shows.  We gave it a quick little spin, using LOST as our test subject.  Their recommended TV shows were pretty on-point, as it suggested Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Dexter, The Wire, 30 Rock, 24, and Mad Men.  All quality and addicting shows.  Well done, iTunes.

Hey, wait a minute!  All it did was give me a list of some of the more popular TV shows over the past few years.  That’s not impressive at all!

To be honest, recommending TV Shows isn’t that challenging of a feat.  I mean, if you like 30 Rock, then you’ll also probably like The Office.  If you like Prison Break, then you’ll probably be a huge fan of OZ.  It doesn’t take a genius (no pun intended) to figure that out.

But movies, on the other hand, are a whole different story.  We’ll give some movies a spin with the Genius feature in a bit, and report back.
