Teardown reveals that iPhone 3G S chip supports 720p HD, is capable of 833Mhz

Wow, talk about a quick turnaround.  The iPhone 3G S has barely been on sale for 3 hours and the folks over at Rapid Repair already tore that sucker apart.  Interestingly, when examining the system board, they noted that “this phone is capable of 833MHz and 720p video. This may be a gateway HD media product in the near future.”

Regarding processor speed, the 833 figure is curious given the numerous other reports which bilk processor speed at 600 MHz.  AppleInsider notes, however, that “Apple appears to have chosen run the chip, which is rebranded with the following markings, below its maximum clock speed for optimal power consumption.”
