Medialets recently put the new iPhone 3GS to the test and measured its JavaScript execution in Webkit against the Palm Pre and the T-Mobile G1.  After running the WebKit based JavaScript test known as SunSpider, Medialets found that the new iPhone 3GS was about 3x as fast as the Palm Pre and over 5x as fast as T-Mobile’s G1.  Notably, when measured against the iPhone 3G running OS 2.2.1, the new 3GS was almost 7x as fast in the SunSpider test.

Medialets has a lot more on their testing over here.
