Forbes recently released its list of the 400 wealthiest people in America for 2009, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs checked in at the 43rd spot with a net worth of approximately $5.1 billion.  With that kind of cash, Jobs could buy 864,406 iPod Shuffles or 255 thousand iPhone 3GS’s for $199. Or, he could also buy well over a million black turtlenecks.

Interestingly, MacRumors points out that Jobs net worth actually delcined by about $600 million over the past year, but since other folks on the list suffered more pronounced losses, Jobs spot on the list actually jumped up a few places, going from the 61st spot last year to the 43rd spot this year.

Not too shabby for a college dropout who only makes $1 a year in annual salary.

Tech related folks rounding out the top 10 include Bill Gates taking up the top spot with $50 billion in assets, and Larry Ellison coming in 3rd with a net worth of $27 billion. Sergey Brin and Larry Page of Google occupy the 11th and 12th spots, with each owning assets totaling $15.3 billion.  Micheal Dell’s net worth of $14.5 billion places him 13th on the list while Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer follows close behind in the 14th spot with assets reportedly worth $13.3 billion.  All that cash, and fool still doesn’t have an iPhone!
