Microsoft’s attempt at a viral video is comically bad

In attempt to create a viral video and generate buzz for its new line of retail stores, Microsoft employees in the Mission Viejo, California store recently began clapping in unison, only to follow it up with some choreographed line dancing set to the musical stylings of the Black Eyed Peas.

I’m sorry, but the whole production just seems so… artificial.  It not necessarily the lamest thing you can find on the net, but it’s certainly awkward and yet another failed attempt by Microsoft to be “cool.”  The crazy thing is that those employees probably spent a good number of hours learning those dance moves.

If this was really a genuine and spontaneous break out into dance, then hey, it’d actually be pretty cool.  But this just reeks of trying too hard, and after getting to the end of the video, a Homer Simpson-esque quote raced through my mind: “I can’t believe I watched the whole thing.”

Let me get this right. I’, in the store, wanting to shop and all the ales reps break out in a dance? Really? Seriously? No wonder they’re going to fail.

Oh, man. I can’t believe someone would stoop so low as to shoplift an MS item. Like who would want it?

They’re just ignoring the customers too; I’d expect them to be helping me, not doing a staged dance…
