I sure as hell hope not, and while Apple is clearly beefing with Google these days, Google certainly is the top choice when it comes to search engines and hopefully Apple won’t compromise on quality just to stick it to Google. But BusinessWeek reported last night that Apple and Microsoft are in talks to do just that.

Apple is in talks with Microsoft to replace Google as the default search engine on its iPhone, according to two people familiar with the matter. The talks have been under way for weeks, say the people, who asked not to be named because the details have not been made public.

The most intriguing part of the story, though, is that Apple may have a “skunk works” project of its own that would see it introduce its own search engine. Color me skeptical, but I just don’t see that happening.

Check out the full scoop over here.
