Sweeping multitouch comes to the Nexus One

Google yesterday announced that it had issued a software update for Nexus One users to enable broad multitouch functionality, including the much desired “pinch to zoom” feature for Google Maps. A few months ago, we reported that the initial Android phone, the G1, didn’t include multi-touch functionality because Apple asked Google not to implement it. Google, perhaps fearing legal recourse, obliged.
