If you’ve been following iPad related stories over the past few weeks, you’ve undoubtedly heard of the escalating battle between Amazon and Apple over e-book pricing. With a new player in town (Apple), publishers have been afforded more negotiating power and have demanded, and received, more flexibility with e-book titles housed on Amazon. While most e-books on Amazon typically sell in the $9.99 range, reports have suggested that e-book titles for the iPad well sell for anywhere between $12.99 and $14.99. In turn, Amazon was forced to change its pricing structure to mirror Apple’s in the face of publisher complaints.

Yesterday, Apple unveiled its first iPad ad and we can see from some stills that e-book pricing on Apple’s iBook Store will indeed sell in the $12.99-$14.99 range as previously rumored.
