Apparently the iPad is not only user friendly, but flier friendly as well. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said yesterday that travelers carrying an iPad, as opposed to laptops, will be able to keep the device in their carry-on luggage and won’t have to take it out to undergo individual x-ray testing. The stated reason behind the decision is that the iPad is relatively small and doesn’t usually come encumbered with plugs and external drives that sometimes make it difficult to get a clear picture of the device via x-ray.

One of the iPad’s more impressive features is its battery life, which according to early reviews tops out at over 10 hours even with heavy web browsing and video playback. From that perspective, the iPad is arguably the perfect flight companion and you can bet that the TSA will be seeing their fair share of the device in the coming weeks.
