News

A poster in the official Nike+ forums writes that the Nike + iPod heart rate monitor is scheduled to hit store shelves on June 1.

Hi everyone,

Great news! I have a U.S. launch date for the Nike+ compatible heart rate monitor. It will officially launch on June 1, 2010, although it may reach some retail outlets slightly sooner. It will reach Canadian markets in June and will launch internationally in summer 2010, exact date to be determined.

The poster, though, noted that he wasn’t at liberty to discuss price, color, device compatibility or any other details.

When word first broke of the Nike + heart rate monitor combo 9 months ago via a users guide on Apple’s website, it explained that the device was only compatible with the 5th gen iPod Nano. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s still the case.

As a point of interest, Apple COO Tim Cook is an avid and serious runner. He asked and received special permission from Steve Jobs to join Nike’s board of directors, where he currently still serves.
