The World Cup is underway and already off to a roaring start. South Africa almost pulled off the miracle of miracles earlier today against Mexico, and if you happen to live in the UK and want to check out the action, then mosey on over to the iTunes Store and download ITV’s FIFA World Cup iPhone app.

The app provides video highlights of every game, news, daily podcasts, schedules, and match details as well. It’s only available, though, in the UK iTunes Store. That said, we can’t really verify this at the moment, but press releases leading up to the World Cup indicated that the iTV’s World Cup app would also enable users to stream live coverage of matches straight to their iPhones both via wi-fi and 3G. Enticing, and if anyone across the pond has given this app a go, let us know how it works!

This app is a really really crap app to be honest. It says you could watch games live and i’ve never been able to watch one. The connection is even worse, even in wi-fi regions, you get booted after a few seconds of the video starting.
