The white iPhone is a lot like the elusive white tiger. Rare, and not often seen in the wild – at least for the time being.

Two weeks ago, a leaked AT&T memo stated that the white model iPhone 4 would not be available until later this Summer. This was subsequently followed up by a more detailed and official press release from Apple stating that the white iPhone 4 will not be available until the second half of July due to a more challenging manufacturing process than Apple anticipated.

Curiously, though, some white iPhones appear to be popping up in the UK, as evidenced by this Sky News report profiling iPhone launch day at Apple’s flagship store on Regent street. The rare albino iPhone 4 rears its head at 1:23 and 1:31 into the video.

Meanwhile Macstories is reporting that white iPhone 4’s have been spotted at two Apple Stores in San Jose, California.
