News, Rumors

Citing a reliable source within Apple, MacMagazine is reporting that Apple is planning an iOS special event scheduled to take place in mid-August, most likely August 16 or 17.

From what we heard so far, the focus of the event will be the new iPod touch (possibly with front camera for FaceTime and rear lens similar to the iPhone 3G – but with flash – in addition to adding a gyroscope) and the arrival of the IOS for April ipad . Past rumors have indicated that the IOS would arrive in April for first iPhones / iPod touch only being ported to IPAD in version 4.1.

The report comes hot on the heels of a report from iLounge stating that Apple has a slew of new iOS products in the pipeline, including a new iPod touch with a front facing camera, a smaller 7-inch iPad, a new iPod Nano, along with a rumored multi-touch iPod Shuffle.

Why would they move it up from September? Not that I’d complain. The sooner the better. Still.
