Apple last week released iOS 4.1 beta, and it didn’t take long for developers to find evidence that email-based Facetime functionality is on the way. Not too long ago, reports surfaced that the next-gen iPod Touch will come with a front facing video camera along with support for Facetime. While the feature is currently only supported on the iPhone 4, Boy Genius noted that the next iteration of the iPod Touch will support video chatting by allowing users to initiate and receive Facetime chats via their email address. Such a move would also allow future versions of the iPad, assuming Apple equips them with front facing cameras, to also participate in the goodness that is Facetime.
