Rumors of an NFC enabled iPhone 5 continue to trickle in. Phone Scoop reports that Deutsch Telekom gave a presentation at Mobile World Congress today where the German carrier outlined its planned adoption of NFC technology for smartphone-based mobile payments. As part of the presentation, Deutch Telekom said that they expect NFC technology to be a part of the next-gen iPhone.

Of course, Apple isn’t the only player looking into NFC technology. The latest Nexus device from Google already incorporates NFC technology while upcoming handsets from the likes of LG and RIM are also believed to include support for NFC.

While it is possible that Deutsch Telekom’s reference to Apple was rooted in guesswork as opposed to inside information gleaned from Apple, Apple is believed to be testing NFC capable devices on its Cupertino Campus and has made a number of NFC-related employee hires over the past year or so.
