Remember that 64GB iPhone 4 first spotted by MicGadget? Well, they now have it in their possession and it appears to be legit.

We are not sure, but we’ve just got our hands on an engineered prototype of iPhone 4, with 64 GB storage capacity. We tested it, and it is the real thing, no jokes here. On the back of the device, it has “XXGB” marking, representing the unit as potential Apple prototypes.

Much like the iPhone 4 prototype famously obtained by Gizmodo last April, the 64GB iPhone has “XXGB” printed on the back while the volume buttons are missing the (+) and (-) symbols. Another similarity is that both prototypes don’t have a silver ring around the camera lens.

As it turns out, the 64GB iPhone 4 cannot be found for sale on the grey markets of Hong Kong. “The owner of this engineered prototype,” the report explains, “told us that he got it from a source who has a small quantity of these prototypes. They are definitely leaked from Foxconn’s factory in Shenzhen.”

The mysterious owner of the device also believes that the iPhone 5 will come with a 64GB storage option.

Below, a hands on video of the device:
