Apple History, News

An interesting look back at an interview with John Couch, one of the earliest Apple employees and one of the driving forces behind the development of the LISA computer. The video below, we think, aired in 1984 and was part of the Computer Chronicles show which aired on PBS from 1982 through 2002.

While not really a well-known beyond Cupertino, Couch was at one point the top executive in charge of the LISA project. Could would subsequently leave Apple for a few years before returning in 2002 as Apple’s VP of Education, which at the time was an entirely new position. For those interested in the Apple hierarchy, Couch reports directly to Tim Cook.

And just for kicks, here’s a photo of Couch from September 2009 helping a high school student in Maine test out a new Apple laptop. Not a bad progression 26 years later.
