News, Rumors

Brian Tong of CNET reported via several tweets on Tuesday that Apple will release new iMacs sometime in April or May. While Tong discounts a form factor overhaul, users can expect the next-gen iMacs to include Intel’s latest generation Sandy Bridge processors along with the recently unveiled Thunderbolt transfer technology.

His tweets read, in sequence:

EXCLUSIVE: My Sources: New iMacs en route by ocean to U.S. available end of April or 1st week of May. No major cosmetic changes.

My sources say New iMacs will feature Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt. No other specifics.

We’ll see if this pans out, but I’m highly confident in my source. If you’re looking for a new iMac. WAIT FOR IT!

Apple last updated the iMac in July of 2010 with new processors and more powerful graphics. While there have been rumors regardingan iMac with capacitive touchscreens, we don’t expect to see something like a touchscreen iMac anytime soon.
