American Medical Association starts an App Contest

The American Medical Association has a contest “Apportunity Knocks” to submit ideas for a medical related application that could be made for actual use! They are also promoting their CPT (medical billing codes) App for iOS. The winner will get $5,000 and a trip to the AMA national convention.

So if you’re in medicine start put your thinking cap on, but remember you will be surrendering your idea. Great way for a medical student to land a top residency.

Here are some details, follow the links for all of them; contest goes until the end of June.

Through the App Challenge, the AMA is looking for ideas for innovative smartphone apps that physicians, residents, fellows and medical students could use in their day-to-day lives. Ideas should be:

  • New, innovative and unique
  • Useful and engaging
  • An appropriate fit with the AMA and its mission, which is to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health
  • Suitable for the app format
  • Representative of your expertise
