After a 10 month long delay, rumor has it that the white iPhone 4 will finally be available to consumers.

Citing three people familiar with Apple’s plans, Bloomberg is reporting that the white iPhone 4 will be available from both AT&T and Verizon Wireless by the end of the month. While the addition of a new color model is not likely to cause a huge spike in sales, it may be better than nothing in light of reports that the iPhone 5 launch has been pushed back to September for reasons that remain murky.

Shortly after the iPhone 4 launched last Summer, the model remained conspicuously absent from store shelves. As a result, a number of theories emerged explaining its absence. Some claimed that Apple was experiencing trouble color matching the shade of white on the iPhone 4 home button to the shade of white used on the rest of the device. Other reports suggested that the white paint let too much light pass into the device and subsequently resulted in poor camera performance.

One person who spoke to Bloomberg also relayed that the white paint on the iPhone would often peel under heat.

News of white iPhone 4 availability isn’t all that surprising given that Apple Senior VP of Marketing Phil Schiller tweeted back in March that the white iPhone 4 would be available this spring and that it’s a “beauty.” This, however, is the first we’ve heard of a release date that, given surrounding evidence, actually sounds somewhat plausible.
