Apple on Monday released its third major iOS 5 beta update to developers.

Some of the noted changes thus far include a revamped location services pane. Not only is there a new splash screen explaining how Apple uses location information but Apple now provides options for users to have more control over what kinds of information it allows to make use of location data.

There have also been a number of reports that the latest iOS 5 beta is significantly snappier than previous iterations, an always welcome change.

Some other updates as documented by itsalltech include the following:

– A new Reminders icon

– The ability to toggle voice roaming to prevent extra fees

– Interestingly enough, though not surprising, Apple has rebranded the iPod app as “Music”

– The ability to create a new mailbox from within the Mail app
