News, Rumors

Once the crown jewel of Apple’s quarterly financial statements, iPod sales have fallen drastically over the past few years as products like the iPhone and iPad have forged a new path of even greater profitability for Apple.

The one saving grace in Apple’s iPod lineup is the iPod Touch which continues to perform admirably. Apple typically revamps its iPod line during a September media event but since we’re also expecting an iPhone 5 announcement in the next few weeks, we haven’t heard much at all about possible upgrades to Apple’s iPod line.

Well, MacRumors is now reporting that Apple will be introducing a refreshed iPod Touch line at the same time it introduces the next-gen iPhone. Further, the iPod Touch upgrade will reportedly be very slight with the major changes being the addition of a white model along with some upgraded hardware.

There have also been reports that the next-gen iPod Touch would come with embedded 3G functionality similar to the iPad 3G model but this story was sourced from a relatively unknown site with no track record with respect to Apple rumors.
