Sales of the iPhone 4S have thus far been enormous. In the first weekend since the device went on sale, Apple sold a whopping 4 million units, easily eclipsing the 1.7 million iPhone 4 units it sold after launch last Summer. Moreover, both AT&T and Sprint, on account of the iPhone 4S, experienced their best retail days for a new product last Friday. All in all, the iPhone 4S may look like the iPhone 4, but customers are flocking to the device in record numbers thanks to significant hardware improvements and Siri, Apple’s new voice-recognition based personal assistant.

And those already impressive iPhone 4S sales figures are now bound to climb even higher as Apple today began taking pre-orders for its latest smartphone in 22 additional countries.

The iPhone 4S is already available in 7 countries and that total is expected to reach 29 by the end of the month.

The countries scheduled to receive the iPhone 4S include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Get em’ while they’re hot, folks, because shipping times are currently at 1-2 weeks but that may soon become much longer if the supply/demand balance here in the US is any indication.
