Wow. Today is fast becoming the day the Apple Tablet became a reality.  After numerous reports suggesting that Apple was poised to announce and demo its mythical tablet device sometime in January, comes word from the Financial Timesthat Apple has “rented a stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for several days in late January.”  The last time Apple had a media event at the Yerba Buena Center was this past September when Seve Jobs made his triumphant return to the public spotlight and introduced a slew of new iPod models.

Earlier today, we reported a number of tablet related rumors, with the most important nuggets of info suggesting that Apple will demo the device in January in preparation for a planned launch in late March. Also, Boy Genius Report noted earlier today that a 7-inch tablet is all but a sure thing, though a number of previous sources indicated that Apple was planning a 10-inch device.  Either way, Apple is definitely up to something.

Let the games begin.
