DigiTimes is reporting that Pegatron is upping its 2011 CDMA iPhone production to 12-15 million units on higher than expected demand. Initial CDMA iPhone production estimates from the Taiwanese manufacturer hovered in the 10 million unit range.

Taiwan-based notebook maker Pegatron Technology has recently started shipping its Apple CDMA iPhones orders with total volume is estimated to be around 12-15 million units in 2011, helping to cover the company’s notebook manufacturing business, which has recently suffered loss of orders, according to sources from upstream component makers.

Back in late October, the Taiwan Economic News reported that Foxconn would also be manufacturing the CDMA iPhone 4 for Verizon and that Foxconn was anticipating 2011 shipments to fall in the 15 million range. Coupled with the aforementioned report regarding Pegatron, sales of the CDMA iPhone might potentially reach 30 million units this year.

Note, though, that the iPhone 5, on target for a Summer 2011 release is rumored to sport a hybrid CDMA/GSM chipset from Qualcomm so it’s likely that both Pegatron and Foxconn’s estimates include both the Verizon iPhone and the as of yet un-announced iPhone 5.
