Apple nixes store located by Empire State Building

Apple has reportedly canceled plans to construct a three story Apple store in an area near the Empire State Building.  Though the area in question has some well-known boutique shops, the area is still home to a number of third-rate tourist traps.  The Post reports that Steve Jobs nixed the store location after looking at an abandoned building across the street and remarking, “This is not for Apple”.
