iMac sales are surging

We’ve often wondered why Apple doesn’t do more to advertise the iMac, but if recent sales reports are any indication, perhaps there’s no need.  According to a recent report from the NPD group, iMac sales increased by a whopping 74% in October and November, a figure which NPD analyst Stephen Baker said was so high that it undoubtedly took even Apple by surprise.

And if you want to get in on the iMac action yourself, you’ll probably have to wait about a week if you want the 27-inch model.  In the wake of numerous reports that Apple’s new 27-inch iMacs were showing up either DOA or with cracked screens, Apple decided to delay shipments of the all-in-one computer for 2 weeks.  That was 1 week ago, so the lag time if you want to order today isn’t all that bad.
