News, Rumors

Is that a Lion peeking out from behind the Apple logo? Why yes, yes it is.

Apple today sent invitations to media outlets inviting them to a “Back to the Mac’ event set to be held on October 20 on Apple’s campus. “Come see what’s new for the Mac on October 20, including a sneak peek of the next major version of Mac OS X”, the invite reads.

And maybe, just maybe, the next iteration of OS X will be called Lion. We can’t say it has as nice a ring to it as Tiger or Snow Leopard, but there are only so many big cats to choose from.

Oh, and by the way, John Gruber hints that the event might also include a “brand-new way-cooler MacBook Air.”

And here’s hoping to an appearance from Bertrand Serlet!
