White iPhone 4 delay ascribed to color matching issues – Rumor

News, Rumors

With all of the hoopla surrounding the iPhone 4 antenna, one story that has seemingly slipped through the cracks has been the conspicuous absence of the white iPhone 4.

Shortly after the iPhone 4 hit store shelves, Apple issued a press release announcing that the white iPhone wouldn’t start shipping for a few months. Now, nearly 3 months later, the white iPhone 4 remains unavailable, with employees on Apple’s Cupertino campus being a glaring exception.

Recently, pocket-lint bumped into a fellow carrying a white iPhone 4 and inquired within. This gentleman supposedly got his iPhone from a friend at Apple. This mystery man also divulged why the white iPhone 4 remains MIA.

Well, according to our jacket wearing gent, Apple is having trouble getting its two suppliers in the Far East to match the white used in the manufacturing of the parts. The white home button colour doesn’t match the white front face plate colour, it turns out.

Apple being the perfectionist that it is, isn’t happy with this and therefore isn’t happy to sell it to the general public, supposedly.

This isn’t the first time color issues have been mentioned as the reason for the white iPhone 4 delay. One previous report suggested that the exact shade of white demanded by Apple has been challenging to create while another claim suggests that the shade of white Apple wants to use allows too much light to leak out through the back.
